Former US marine jailed for indecent assault on two kids
WESTERN BUREAU — A 74-year-old former United States service man will spend the next nine months in prison for the indecent assault of two little girls, ages five and six.
The man, James Cragaer, was recently sentenced following the hearing of evidence before RM Wilson Smith, in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court.
On July 17 last year Cragaer, who said he served 16 years in the US army, called the little girls over to his home at Norwood in St James, where he has lived as a tourist for the past 12 years.
While there the 74-year-old reportedly put his mouth on the little girls’ vaginas, and later instructed the six-year-old to sit on his face and urinate.
One of the girls’ sisters, a 13 year-old, who had been looking for them, discovered the old man with the little girl sitting on his face.
The matter was later reported to the girls’ mothers, and the old man was charged for two counts of indecent assault.
Cragaer was sentenced to nine months imprisonment on each count. But he will not serve only nine months behind bars as the sentences are to run concurrently.
Meanwhile Cragaer, who claims to suffer from three types of cancers, has maintained his innocence throughout the case. According to him, the girls had come over to his house and proceeded to annoy him.
This, he said, led him to run them from the house, and nothing more.
