Jamalco honours 64 workers for long service
HALSE HALL, Clarendon — SIXTY-FOUR employees from the JAMALCO bauxite and alumina plant in Clarendon were recently honoured for between 10 and 35 years service to the company.
The awards ceremony was held last week at the JAMALCO Great House in Halse Hall, Clarendon.
Guest speaker at the function, Postmaster General, Dr Blossom O’Meally-Nelson, congratulated the employees for their dedication.
She said, however, that in spite of their successes with the company, it was an appropriate time for the workers to assess themselves and their abilities, in order to continue their development and improve the service they offered to the company.
“The world of work is extremely competitive, and even as your company re-engineers itself, so you have to re-engineer yourself and to recognise that this is but a benchmark and a pause on the road to where you are going,” O’Meally-Nelson said.
She suggested that the re-engineering process should include a review of the abilities that bring about success.
Rhena Gregory, human resource and industrial relations administrator at JAMALCO, said the company wanted to show appreciation to its employees for their devoted service to the organisation, adding that the awards ceremony was an indication of the value of the people to the company.
