Double murder at Woodford Park
TWO men were yesterday cut down by gunmen’s bullets along Dames Road in Woodford Park, Kingston.
According to the official police report, the dead men, 22 year-old Emelio Rogers of Anderson Road and Dwayne Nicholson, 17, of Moore Street, had gone to a shop along Dames Road to purchase some items. When they were about to leave the shop, they were attacked by two gunmen travelling on bicycles. The killers sprayed the men with bullets before escaping, the police say. Rogers and Nicholson were taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where they were pronounced dead.
The Cross Roads police could not say what was the motive for the double killing, but residents of the area linked the shootings to a long-standing feud between two rival gangs in the area.
Residents, who declined to give their names, said men from an area known as “Track” and another set from “Fifty” have been involved in an ongoing feud.
“Them carry feelings from long time. It worse when Track decide fi switch and turn labourite,” a resident said yesterday.
The Allman Town police confirmed that bad blood has been brewing between both parties. “From time to time they have their flare-ups,” an officer at the station said.
Meanwhile, a resident of Woodford Park told the Observer that he had fears of living in such a violent environment. “Mi well want lef yah. The man dem who a do the killing know dem one another. The whole a dem grow up and go the same school. Them a kill each other for nothing and we in the area have fi shet wi mout or prepare fi dead to,” he said.
