JUTC conductress on embezzlement charge
THE Hunts Bay police have arrested a Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) conductress following investigation into an alleged robbery on Saturday night on a bus she conducted.
The conductress, Maxine Taylor,. 37, of McDonald Lane, Kingston 13, has been charged with embezzlement and creating public mischief.
The police reported that about 8:50 pm on Saturday, Taylor attended the Hunts Bay Police Station and reported that she was held up and robbed in the Three Miles area by a man armed with a knife.
Initial investigation, the police said, revealed that the conductress had concocted a story about the robbery. A search of her person and the bus were carried out and cash in various denominations amounting to $9,435.00 was found hidden in her handbag and in the vehicle. She was consequently arrested and charged and is scheduled to appear in the Corporate Area Criminal Court today.
