Two killed, four injured in car crash
A Mandeville woman, Paulette Clarke, and an unidentified man died Saturday night after the Toyota Corolla motor car they were travelling in plunged into a precipice off the Cobbler main road in Christiana, Manchester.
Four other persons – David Wright of Perth Road and Myron Denton of Greenvale, both in Mandeville; as well as Kenroy Richards of Boro Bridge, St Ann and Hubert Samuels, the driver of the car – were injured in the accident.
Samuels was treated at hospital and sent home. The others have been admitted.
The Manchester police say that the mishap happened at about 10:30 pm. The six were on their way to a wake when Samuels reportedly lost control of the vehicle in a corner.
All six persons in the vehicle were taken to the Spaldings Hospital where Clarke and the male passenger were pronounced dead. Wright and Denton were later transferred to the Mandeville Hospital.
The Christiana police are questioning Samuels as part of their investigations.
