Man shot dead, another injured
One man was shot and killed and another injured by unknown assailant(s) on Waltham Park Road in Kingston Sunday night.
The police identified the dead man as Stephen Stanton, 23, otherwise called “Ginger”, while injured was a 32 year-old man, both of Waltham Park Road in Kingston.
The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) reported that at about 9:45 pm both men were among other persons at Waltham Park Road when several men armed with guns approached them. The men opened fire, hitting Stanton in the abdomen and the other man in the chest, abdomen and left hand. The injured men were taken to hospital where Stanton died while undergoing treatment. The other man was admitted in serious condition.
The police said they found a .40 mm bullet and an expended .40 spent shell on the scene.
Pedal cyclist dies in crash
Pedal cyclist Lloyd Hibbert died from injuries he received when he was hit by a motor vehicle collision on Bob Marley Boulevard, Cooreville Gardens, St Andrew on Sunday.
Hibbert, 47, resided at New Haven, Kingston 20.
According to the CCN, at about 1:15 am, Hibbert was riding along Bob Marley Boulevard, when he reportedly rode into the path of a Toyota Harrier motor van travelling in the opposite direction. He received injuries and was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Body found with head severed
The body of a man, believed to be about 60 years old, was found yesterday in bushes with the head severed, at Bedward Gardens, August Town, Kingston 7.
The police said that at about 4:00 pm, the body was discovered by residents. It was clad in blue pants and grey and white track shoes.
An on the spot post mortem which was conducted proved inclusive due to the level of decomposition. The body was removed to the morgue.
The August Town Police who are investigating say that the body may be that of Royford Wallace who lived in a shack on the riverbank.
Suspected drowning
A 21 year-old mason reportedly drowned off the coast of the Sea Riv Beach, Alligator Pond, Manchester Sunday afternoon.
He has been identified as Nicholas Jones otherwise called ‘Saggy’, of Knockpatrick district in the parish.
The CCN reported that at about 3:30 pm, Jones and his friends were at the beach swimming when he reportedly got into difficulties and drowned. A search was made for the body but proved unsuccessful due to rough sea.
Man killed in motorcycle crash
Lamar Mario Coombs, 18, was killed when his motorcycle crashed along the Bellefield main road in St Mary Sunday morning.
According to the police, at about 10:30 am, Coombs was riding the motorcycle along the Bellefield main road. He reportedly lost control of the unit which hit an embankment, crashed into a tree and plunged into a gully. He was taken to the Annotto Bay Hospital, then transferred to the Kingston Public Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
