Cyclist killed in Cave accident
RICHARDO Christie, a 17-year-old student, was killed in a motor vehicle accident on the Cave main road in Westmoreland on Monday.
The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) reported that at about 4:45 pm, Christie was riding his cycle along the Cove main road when he was involved in a collision with a Leyland truck, registered CC 238G. He sustained head injuries and was taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Boy, 4, drowns in tank
FOUR-YEAR-OLD Nickoy Cassanova of Providence, Manchester drowned in a tank in the community on Monday.
The CCN reported that at about 5:00 pm, Nickoy was in a common, when he became entangled with a rope which was tied to a cow. He subsequently freed himself and was reportedly running away from the cow when he fell in the tank and drowned.
Morant Bay man fatally shot, firearms seized
AN unidentified man who reportedly pointed a gun at members of a police party, was fatally shot and the weapon seized in Morant Bay, St Thomas Monday evening. A second firearm was also seized and two men arrested in connection with the same accident.
Charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition are two 20 year-old men, Edward Bitter and Dwaney Williston, both of Kingston 3.
Man shot dead in supermarket
A 34-year-old man was Monday shot dead during a robbery at Lucky’s Wholesale at Orange Street in St James.
He has been identified as Byron Brown of Salt Spring, St James.
Reports from the CCN’s Liaison Officer for St James, are that about 4:00 pm, Brown was at the wholesale when three men armed with handguns entered the building. They robbed the proprietor of $10,000 in cash.
On leaving, one of the men fired a shot hitting Brown in the abdomen. He was taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he died whilst undergoing treatment.
Bus driver dies in rehab centre
MAXWELL Campbell of Lawrence Tavern, St Andrew died in the Sir John Godling Rehabilitation Centre on Monday from an injury he received during an altercation with another man a Stony Hill Square, St Andrew on Monday, December 2.
The CCN’s metro officer reported that on December 2, Campbell, a bus driver, was at the Stony Hill Square loading his bus when a man came and demanded money from the conductress. When his demand was not met, he reportedly slapped her in the face. Campbell intervened and was stabbed in the neck. He was taken to the University Hospital when he was admitted in serious condition. He was later transferred to the John Golding Rehabilitation Centre where he died.
Riversdale house destroyed by fire
FIRE of unknown origin on Monday destroyed a five-bedroom house in Riversdale, St Catherine.
The CCN said that at about 1:30 am, fire was seen coming from a section of the building. An alarm was made and the Fire Brigade summoned. One unit from the Linstead Fire Department extinguished the blaze. No one was injured.
