Bodies found in car trunk
THE police were last night still withholding the name of a man who was apparently driving a Toyota Corolla motorcar in whose trunk two unidentified bodies were found in the early hours of Friday.
According to the police, officers were on a motorised patrol in the downtown area of Kingston at about 2:40 am yesterday when a car was searched on Peter’s Lane. The bodies of the two men, believed to be in their mid-30s, were discovered in the boot.
The Kingston Central Police took into custody a man believed to have been the owner/driver of the car.
But last night, the circumstances under which the vehicle was held and whether the bodies were about to be dumped remained sketchy. However, a senior officer at the Kingston Central Police believed that the men were killed elsewhere and brought to the area where the car was held.
According to the officer, no link was established between the bodies discovered yesterday and other recent gruesome discoveries of murder victims in downtown.
In one case just over a week ago, the bullet-riddled bodies of two men were found stuffed in barrels at the intersection of Pechon Street and Water Lane.
In the other incident, one body was found in a barrel on a street corner in West Kingston, while the other was discovered at the old Public Works Department building on Industrial Terrace.
One of these men, according to the police, was Anthony Williams of Industrial Terrace, who was allegedly executed in a case of vigilante justice, for having been accused of raping a woman.
