Sex worker shot dead on Kings Way
YVETTE Douglas, a sex worker who operated on Kings Way, Kingston 6, was shot dead Friday night when she spoke out against the attempted abduction of one her colleagues, the police reported yesterday.
Kings Way, in a neighbourhood with mostly townhouses and apartment complexes, is a popular night time hang-out for female sex workers.
According to the police’s Constabulary Communications Network (CCN), Douglas, 41, was on Kings Way at about 9:45 with several other sex workers when four men drove up in a green Mitsubishi car.
When they attempted to force one of the women into the car, the police said, Douglas, who was also called “Oney”, objected.
One of the men pulled a hand gun and shot Douglas in the chest and shoulder.
She died on the spot.
The Half-Way-Tree police are investigating the incident, but up to last night had made no arrests.
