Farmer burnt to death
ALBERT Ellis, a 51 year-old farmer died in a fire which destroyed his one-bedroom house at John’s Town Road, Port Antonio, Portland on Wednesday.
The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) reported that at about 7:30 pm, residents reportedly saw fire coming from a section of the house. The fire quickly engulfing the building. One unit from the Port Antonio Fire Department extinguished the blaze.
Ellis, who was trapped inside the building, was burnt to death. The body was removed to the morgue for post mortem examination.
Loss is estimated at $150,000 and the house was not insured, according to the police.
Two teenagers held for gun in China Town
Two 17 year-old boys were arrested for breaches of the Firearms Act at China Town, Central Village, St Catherine Wednesday.
Charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition are Richard Brooks and Kevin Wright, both of Windsor Heights, St Catherine.
The CCN said that at about 3:00 pm, a police operation was carried out in the China Town area of Central Village. During the operation, three males were seen acting suspiciously. They were challenged and they reportedly pulled guns and opened fire at the police. The fire was returned and Brooks and Wright were subsequently apprehended. A Glock 9mm semi-automatic pistol serial # CRC3004 with eight 9mm rounds was taken from one of them.
