Woman dies in Mandeville accident
Shekeria Outar, 19, was pronounced dead at hospital as a result of injuries she sustained in a motor vehicle accident on Caledonia Road, Mandeville, Manchester on Thursday.
The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) reported that at about 11:45 am, Outar was driving a Honda motorcar along Caledonia Road when she was reportedly involved in a collision with a Chevrolet pick-up travelling in the opposite direction. She sustained multiple injuries and was taken to the Mandeville Regional Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the pick up also received injuries and was treated and released.
Body found in
shallow grave
The body of Kenrick Sterling, 30, of Coal Pipe district, Harbour View, St Andrew, who was reported missing since Tuesday was found in a shallow grave in the community Thursday.
The CCN said that at about 7:30 Thursday morning the body was discovered by a family member who called the police. An on-the-spot postmortem which was conducted revealed that death was caused by a gunshot would to the head. The body was removed to the morgue.
Kittitian arrested for ganja
A St Kitts national was arrested for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston on Thursday.
Charged with possession of, dealing in and taking steps to export ganja is Leslie Nathaniel, 36, of Dawset Village, St Kitts.
According to the CCN, at about 10:30, Nathaniel checked in to board a flight destined to St Kitts. He was stopped and searched at the security checkpoint and ganja weighing 4.5 kilograms (10 lbs) found in his possession. He was consequently charged and was booked to appear in the Corporate Area Criminal Court yesterday.
Man convicted for murder of girl, 11
Thirty-six year-old Hozem Horne who was charged for the 1998 murder of 11 year-old Leishsa Smith was convicted in the St Catherine Circuit Court yesterday and sentenced to life imprisonment.
The police reported that reported that Leisha, who lived at Molynes Road in Kingston, was reported missing on June 19, 1998. Her body was found two days later in the sea at Causeway in St Catherine. An on- the-spot postmortem which was done at the time revealed that she was sexually assaulted and beaten.
Investigations resulted in the exhumation of the body and DNA examination was done which led to the arrest of Horne. He was convicted by a 12-member jury.
Teenager’s body found with stab wounds
The body of 16 year-old Anthony McLean of Canaan district, Moneague, St Ann was found with stab wounds in bushes in the community Thursday.
The CCN reported that McLean was last seen alive in the company of one Boyie Hamilton. About 12 mid-day Thursday the body was discovered by a passer-by. It had stab wounds to the right side of the chest, left side and back.
The Moneague police who are investigating are seeking Hamilton for questioning in connection with McLean’s death.
