Man’s body found in pond
THE decomposing body of an unidentified man, aged about 62 years, was found in a pond at Moorefield district in Trelawny Wednesday.
The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) reported that at about 5:45 am, a resident was passing the Spring Bottom Pond in the district when he discovered the body. The police were summoned and the body removed for post-mortem and identification.
The body, which had bruises to the face, is of dark complexion, slim built, about 162.56 centimetres tall and was clad in blue shirt, black pants and a pair of water boots.
Man shot dead, another chopped and injured in Spring Village
ONE man was shot and killed and another chopped and injured after they were attacked by two men at Spring Village district, St Catherine Wednesday.
The dead man has been identified as Wayne Bailey, 32, otherwise called “Fowler” of Stebar Avenue, Homestead, St Catherine, while injured is a 23 year-old man.
The CCN reported that at about 2:20 pm, both men went to visit a man known only as “Bobby” in the area. On their arrival they were attacked by “Bobby” and another man who opened fire, hitting Bailey.
The 23 year-old man was then chopped in the head. Bailey died on the spot while the other man was taken to hospital where he was admitted in stable condition.
Ganja seized in Mount Diablo
A large quantity of ganja was seized during an operation at Mount Diablo district, Linstead, St Catherine yesterday. No one was arrested in connection with the seizure.
The police said that at about 4:30 am, a police operation was carried out in the Mount Diablo community, when ganja weighing 277 kilograms was (610 lbs) seized from a premises.
Motor cyclist killed in Walf Road accident
A 25 year-old motor cyclist was killed yesterday in a motor vehicle accident on Walf Road, Orange Bay, Hanover.
He has been identified as Holden Stewart of Mount Pleasant district, Orange Bay.
According to the police, at about 3:45 pm, Stewart was reportedly riding his Yamaha motor cycle, registered 8637 E, behind a Premix Max truck, registered CC 987X, driven by Albert Thompson, when he reportedly ran into the rear of the truck. He sustained injuries and was taken to the Savanna-la-Mar Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Man chopped to death in Buff Bay
ASHLEY Brown, 20, otherwise called “Reds” of Balcarres district in Portland was chopped to death by a group of men at Jubilee district, Buff Bay, Portland Wednesday evening.
The police said that at about 5:20 pm, Brown was on his way home when on reaching Jubilee district he was allegedly attacked by a group of men armed with machetes. He received chopped wounds all over his body and was taken to the Annotto Bay Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Buff Bay police who are investigating are seeking two men known only as “Syraco” and “Laga” of Portland in connection with the killing.
Cops kill man in alleged attack
OMAR Martin, 30, otherwise called “Omni” was fatally shot during an alleged gunbattle with the police in Huntley district, St Elizabeth Wednesday evening.
According to the police, at about 4:15 pm, members of a police team were on patrol in the area when a man reported that he was robbed at gunpoint by Martin. The police went in search of Martin and he was seen in Huntley district. On the approach of the police he reportedly pulled a gun and opened fire at them. The police returned the fire and Martin was shot and injured, said the police’s information arm, the CCN.
A .357 Magnum revolver, serial # F106601 with three live rounds and three spent shells, the police said, were taken from him. He was taken to the Black River Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Black River police said Martin was wanted for murder, robbery and shooting committed in Kingston, St Elizabeth and Westmoreland.
