Man shot dead at Canary Avenue
Clinton Maxwell, 27, otherwise called “Chris” of Canary Avenue, Kingston 11, was Sunday night shot and killed by a gunman in the area.
The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) reported that at about 6:45 pm, Maxwell was reportedly on Canary Avenue when he was approached by a man who reportedly pulled a handgun and opened fire, hitting him in the chest, right side and right arm. He was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The gunman escaped in the area.
… Another at Mount Caramel
Roland Douglas, 44, was shot and killed by unknown assailant(s) at his gate in Mount Carmel district, Hanover Saturday night.
The police reported that Douglas, who had left home to visit a relative at Mount Caramel, was shot at his gate on his return home. His body was found at the gate at about 6 o’clock Sunday morning by his common-law wife. The body had two gunshot wounds to the chest.
Pedal cyclist dies in accident
A pedal cyclist died in a motor vehicle accident on Twickenham Park main road in Spanish Town, St Catherine on Sunday.
The dead man who is unidentified is believed to be about 75 years-old. He is of dark complexion, slim build, about 162 centimetres (5ft 4ins) tall and was clad in a black “T” shirt, grey pants and a black shoes.
The CCN said that at about 4:50 am, the elderly man was reportedly riding his bicycle on the Twickenham Park main road when he was hit by a Honda motorcar, in the vicinity of Michael Manley Drive. He sustained injuries and was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Girl, 4, drowns in drum
Shauna Lee Moodie, four, drowned in a drum of water at her home at Pitcairn Valley, Red Hills, St Andrew on Sunday.
The police said that at about 9:00 am, Shauna Lee was reportedly trying to fetch water from a drum inside the kitchen of her house when she lost her balance and fell in. Her lifeless body was subsequently found in the drum by a family member. It was removed to the morgue for postmortem.
Gun, ammunition seized in Central Kingston
A Glock 9 mm magazine containing seven rounds of ammunition was seized at Johns Lane, Central Kingston on Sunday, the police said yesterday.
According to the police, at about 12:00 Sunday afternoon a police party was on patrol along Johns Lane when they reportedly saw two men on bicycles. The men, the CCN said, were signalled to stop but instead of stopping they pulled guns and opened fire at the police. The police returned the fire and the men ran leaving behind one of the bicycles and a magazine containing the rounds of ammunition.
