Jamaican creativity rewarded
Frame by Frame Productions, one of Jamaica’s cutting-edge film and production companies, recently snagged three prizes in three categories in this year’s US International Film and Video Festival. Now entering into the 35th year, the competition attracted over 1,500 entrants from 33 countries. Jamaica’s Frame by Frame won second place in the In-Flight Presentation with its popular “Best of Island stylee” video, and third place in the Music Documentary category with its “Jazz in the Sun Christmas Special”.
Led by the dynamic duo of Max Earle and Lukee Chong, the young company celebrates its tenth year in the film industry with an already solid reputation locally and regionally for slick professionalism and creativity. The recipient of several industry awards over the years, Frame by Frame has always been quiet trail-blazers both in terms of film technology and advertising and television production. Said managing director, Max Earle, of the company’s most recent awards, “It’s a blessing to be able to make a living out of something that you love…and an honour to be recognised for it.”
Earle went on to pay tribute to Jampro for always “being in their corner”, as well as to Air Jamaica and BET Jazz for laying the foundation for such golden opportunities as Island Stylee and Jazz in the Sun. Viacom, which owns BET (Black Entertainment Television), became the first major US network to syndicate a Jamaican-produced series, giving Frame by Frame another well-ended feather in its cap.
The awards banquet took place last Friday in Manhattan Beach, California.
Established in 1992, Frame by Frame is a privately-owned and financed film and video production company offering a full range of in-house services, and is one of the first choices for advertising and television production in Jamaica. Previous awards include Best Television Commercial of the Year for 1996, for advertising and marketing their client, Sprint. In 1998, the company won acclaim in the Cresta International Creative Awards in London, and in the following year, shared the prize for “Best Commercial Television of the Year” with Quantum Communications.
