Man’s body found in Portmore
THE Waterford Police in St Catherine are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body of a man believed to be about 60 years old near the Portsmouth community in the area on Thursday.
The body is about 152.4 centimetres (5ft) tall and was clad in yellow shirt and black pants.
The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) reported that at about 3:30 pm, the body was reportedly discovered in the mangroves near the Portsmouth community. The police are awaiting an on-the-spot post-mortem to determine the cause of death.
Man charged for alleged slaying of wife
LLOYD July, 46, of Belleview Mountain district in St Elizabeth, is now facing the capital charge following the machete slaying of his common-law wife in that district on Tuesday.
The CCN’s St Elizabeth liaison officer reported that July’s common-law wife, Erna Elliott, 46, reportedly moved out of the house in which they both lived.
About 10 o’clock Tuesday morning, she reportedly returned to the dwelling and at about half-an-hour later, her body with multiple machete wounds and the head partially severed was reportedly found in a room of the house.
Following investigations by the Bull Savannah police, July, who turned himself over to the police on Wednesday, was formally charged Thursday. He is scheduled to appear in the Malvern Resident Magistrate’s Court on Friday, May 24.
Two men killed in Kingston
TWO unidentified men were killed in separate incidents in Kingston Thursday night.
The police said that at about 2:40 pm, the body of one of the men, aged about 23, was discovered by residents in a lavatory near an old warehouse at Marcus Garvey Drive.
The body, which is about 177.8 centimetres (5ft 10 ins) tall had multiple stab wounds to the chest. The feet were bound and a piece of cloth was tied around the neck.
In the other incident, police reported that explosions were heard in the Slipe Pen Road area of Kingston at about 3:45 pm. On investigation, the body of a man, age about 36, was found lying on Slipe Pen Road with multiple gunshot wounds.
The body, which is about 175.26 centimetres (5ft 9 ins) tall, has a tattoo on the lower right arm and is clad in a white T-shirt, black jeans pants and brown suede shoes.
The bodies were removed for post mortem and identification.
