Man drowns in Rio Minho
MARLON Scott, 24, drowned in the Rio Minho River at Mullet Hall district, Clarendon on Sunday.
Scott, a chauffeur, resided at Anil Crescent, Kingston 11.
The CCN’s Clarendon Liaison Officer said that about 2:30 pm, Scott was reportedly swimming in the river when he got into difficulties and drowned. The body was removed to the morgue for post-mortem examination.
Alleged robber beaten to death
AN alleged robber was beaten to death by a mob at Good Hope district, Westmoreland Sunday.
He has been identified only as “Ackee Man”, believed to be about 40 years.
The CCN reported that at about 7:30 pm, “Ackee Man” was reportedly seen removing lumber from a building under construction by the caretaker who raised an alarm. A large crowd converged on the scene and set upon “Ackee Man”, severely beating him. He was taken to the Savanna-la-Mar Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Man held with gun in Old Harbour
ROHAN Davis, 30, of Palmer’s Cross in Clarendon was arrested for breaches of the Firearm Act, following the seizure of a firearm during a police operation at Africa Land settlement, Old Harbour, St Catherine Saturday.
The CCN said that at about 10:30 am, a police party was on foot patrol in the Africa Land settlement area, where Davis was reportedly seen with a firearm. On the approach of the police he reportedly ran. The police gave chase and were allegedly fired at by Davis. The police returned the fire and when the shooting subsided, Davis was held. A home-made double-barrelled shotgun with two twelve-gauge cartridges was taken from him. He was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where he was treated and released into police custody.
