Two killed, one injured by gunmen
TWO men were fatally shot and another injured in separate incidents in St Catherine Friday night, the police have reported.
One of the dead men has been identified as 28 year-old Steve Martin, otherwise called “Black Steve”, of Solomon Way, Braeton, Phase 1. The other was still unidentified at press time. Police say he is about 28 years old, approximately 175.26 centimetres (5ft 9in) tall, and was clad in a pair of blue jeans, plaid shirt and black sweat shirt. The police have not released the name of the injured man.
The police say that at about 10:15 pm, Martin and a woman were sitting on the sidewalk along Trout Way in Braeton when two men alighted from a car that was parked in the vicinity and opened fire hitting him. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The woman escaped unhurt.
Seventeen 9mm spent shells were taken from the scene.
In the second incident, four gunmen pounced upon two men who were sitting on a wall along Cheston Road in Warterford, St Catherine at about 11:00 pm, and opened fire, hitting them.
One of the men died on the spot while the other was hospitalised in serious condition.
Five 9 mm spent shells were found at the scene.
The bodies were removed to the morgue for post-mortem examination.
The St Catherine South Homicide Team who are investigating have not yet established a motive for the killings.
