Cop kills motor cycle robber
ONE of two men who reportedly held up and robbed a policeman of his private motor cycle was fatally shot in Kingston Sunday night, while two 9mm magazines along with 17 rounds of ammunition were seized in the incident, the police reported yesterday.
The dead man is unidentified.
The Constabulary Communication Network said that at about 10:45 pm, a police constable was riding his Kawasaki motor cycle along Moreton Park Terrace when he was held up and robbed by two armed men, on reaching the intersection of Cassia Park Road. The men who were travelling on a Kawasaki motor bike, licensed 8363E, reportedly pulled guns and robbed the lawman of his motor cycle.
On leaving, the men opened fire at the policeman. The fire, the police said, was returned and one of the gunmen was hit. The other gunman reportedly escaped on the policeman’s bike taking his crony’s gun, however, the magazine with four rounds for the weapon was left behind. Another magazine containing 13 9mm cartridges was also found in the injured man’s pocket.
He was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
