Boy drowns in Mason River
Fredel Simpson, a 10 year-old schoolboy, drowned in the Mason River in Crofts Hill, Clarendon on Thursday.
The police reported yesterday that Simpson, of Coley district in St Ann, along with other boys went to the river to swim and fish at about 12:30 pm when he reportedly got into difficulties and drowned. His body was removed for post-mortem examination.
Portmore man dies from gunshot wounds
A resident of Portmore, St Catherine who was shot and injured by unknown assailant(s) on Wednesday, died from his injuries in hospital Thursday.
He has been identified as Alphanso Branch, 22, otherwise called “Kempess” of Devon Road, Waterford.
The police said that at about 6:55 pm, Branch was sitting at the back of his house when he was shot and injured.
He was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where he died shortly after 12:00 Thursday morning.
