‘Deliver Us’ for MoBay today and tomorrow
Deliver Us, the story of Moses leading the Israelites’ exodus from Egypt, comes to Montego Bay’s Caribbean Showplace today and tomorrow.
The production is being staged by the Jamaica Junior Theatre Company, and part proceeds are in aid of the Committee for the Upliftment of the Mentally Ill (CUMI) and the Good Shepherd Foundation.
Showtimes are 7:30 pm today and 2pm on Sunday. Tickets are going for $500 and can be purchased at St James College, or by calling 971-4225 or 971-3921.
MoBay carnival blowout for Tropical Beach
The Jamaica Carnival 2002 journeys tonight to the Tropical Beach, Montego Bay.
The party starts at 9 pm and will feature Byron Lee and the Dragonaires. Guest artistes include Oscar B and Roger George formerly of Xtatik.
Emcee for the night will be Jerry D of Radio 2 FM.
Hipsters party for the Brewery, tonight
The Brewery on the Montego Bay Hip Strip along Gloucester Avenue comes alive tonight with the staging of a ‘hipsters party’.
As usual, there are lots of prizes in store for lucky patrons.
The woman adjudged to be wearing the sexiest hipster will take home a gift certificate for $8,000 worth of clothing while the second prize gets a $4,000 gift certificate.
Special guest selector will be Kurt Riley of Fame FM radio.
The fun starts at 10 pm.
Who will be Miss Montpelier 2002?
Eight girls from the Montpelier community will tonight vie for the crown of Miss Montpelier 2002 at the Bojay’s entertainment Centre, Anchovy.
They are:
* Diana Stewart, Miss SST Hair and Nail Place;
* Tamorica Williams, Miss Tinglin’s Discount Centre;
* Tasha Little, Miss Pasarello;
* Grace Colquhoun Miss Rumpanion FC;
* Julia Ruddock, Miss Performance Shed;
* Charlissa Williams, Miss Beauty Beyond Salon.
Special guests will be the Goofy Kids, Jah Weise, and the Haitian Crew.
Music will be provided by Sting International, and INXS with deejay Lippo.
MISS TRELAWNY HIGH 2002, CROWNING TONIGHT
One of the ten students from the four high schools in Trelawny will be crowned Miss Trelawny High School 2002 at a function to be held at the William Knibb High School, Martha Brae in the parish.
Prizes for the contest, which will showcase beauty and talent, will include a first prize of $7,000, the second place winner gets $5,000 while third place will take home $3,000.
Sectional prizes will also be awarded to the contestants.
Music will be provided by Scorpion Disco.
