Man killed in motor vehicle accident
Hilaire Tate, 62, of Yallahs was killed in a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Wharf Road and Rosemarie Avenue, Morant Bay, St Thomas on Saturday.
The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) reported that at about 4:30 am, Tate was driving a Toyota Townace motor truck along Wharf Road. On reaching the intersection of Wharf Road and Rosemarie Avenue, he reportedly lost control of the vehicle which crashed into a wall. Tate sustained head injuries and was taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Ammunition handed over to police
A Glock magazine with seven rounds of 9mm cartridges was handed over by a citizen to the Stony Hill police in St Andrew on Saturday.
The CCN said that at about 8:45 pm, the citizen who had reportedly discovered the magazine in the area, handed it in at the police station.
Cops destroy ganja in two-day operation
The St Elizabeth police along with personnel from the Area 3 and Kingston Narcotics seized and destroyed a large quantity of cured ganja, seedlings and fully grown plants, during raids in St Elizabeth between Friday and Saturday.
The CCN reported that in one of the raids at Dingent District, Middle Quarters, cured ganja weighing approximately 227.6 kilograms (500 pounds) was taken from a hut and burnt.
Another 1 1/2 acres of fully grown plants, 30,000 seedlings and 50 pounds of the cured drug was also destroyed on a ganja farm in Little Park district.
Five reported missing
The police are seeking the public’s assistance in finding five persons who have been reported missing from home in the Corporate Area.
They are
* Tanisha Henry, 15, otherwise called ‘Kimmy’ of Cassia Park Road, Kingston 10, who was reported missing since November 1. She is of brown complexion, about 168 centimetres tall, (5ft 6ins) with ‘overbite teeth’. When last seen, she was dressed in khaki tunic, white blouse and blue and red tie. Tanisha reportedly frequents the Sovereign Centre in Liguanea.
* Sheryl South, 16, otherwise called Ann-marie of Little Kew Avenue, Kingston 5, has been missing since November 21 last year. She is of fair complexion, 160 centimetres, tall (5ft 3ins) and reportedly frequents Texton Road, Arnett Gardens and the Asylum Night Club in New Kingston. When last seen she was dressed in white shorts and purple blouse.
* Terry-Ann Baker, 33, of Swallowfield Road, Kingston 5, has been missing since December 12. She is of dark complexion, medium build, and about 170.18 centimetres (5ft ins) tall. When last seen she was wearing a yellow floral dress.
* Twenty-three year-old Mellisa Jones otherwise called “Tina” of Peter’s Rock Road, Jacks Hill, has been missing since January 3 of this year. She is of dark complexion, slim build and about 152.4 centimetres (5ft) tall. When last seen she was wearing green skirt and blouse and brown shoes.
* Sixty-two year-old Ester James of Golden Grove, Lydford, St Ann has been missing since Sunday, December 30. She is of dark complexion, stout build, and about 167.64 centimetres (5ft 6ins) tall. When last seen she was wearing a yellow blouse with black skirt and sandals.
