FOR the third consecutive year, the Forestry Department has hosted the Multicare Environmental Summer Camp at the Multicare Foundation.
The camp, which runs for five weeks, provides lessons in conservation, forest nursery operations and how to be better environmental stewards to 40 campers drawn from inner-city communities.
The Forestry Department provides a day of activities each week for campers, including filling potting bags with soil mix and transplanting of seedlings. They also receive information on the importance of forestry to their existence and survival.
Each day, campers are exposed to different aspects of the environment through resource persons from various agencies and non-governmental organisations. Hikes, field trips and storytelling are added features of the camp.
