$4.5-m for Westmoreland roads damaged by heavy rains
THE Westmoreland Parish Council is to spend at least $4.5 million to repair roads, in western sections of the parish, that were damaged by last week’s heavy rains, according to the council’s superintendent of roads and works Albert Stewart.
However, Stewart said that the bill could rise further after a more comprehensive assessment of the rain damage is done.
The worst affected areas are Revival Top and Bottom, Wire Lane, Red Ground, Orchard Road, and Dawes Lane in the Negril division.
Stewart explained that some areas of Dawes Lane and St Paul’s road have had serious erosion, to the point of damaging newly laid pipelines.
