St James football knockout semis
NATIONAL Premier League teams Wadadah and Seba will play the semifinals of the Inbond Merchants Association St James knockout football competition at Jarrett Park tomorrow.
In the 3:00 pm curtain-raiser, Wadadah will play Catherine Hall, while in the feature match at 5:00 pm, Seba will play either Violet Kickers of the ‘A’ League, or Glendevon. The quarter-final match between Violet Kickers and Glendevon was being played yesterday evening at news time.
Catherine Hall reached the last four after edging Railway Gardens 1-0 in the quarter-finals. The Garfield Anderson-coached team represented the parish in last year’s Federation Cup all-island knockout competition.
If Violet Kickers beat Glendevon, Catherine Hall will again be assured of a place in the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF)-run competition. Seba, Wadadah and Violet Kickers have each won the Premier League twice.
Wadadah clipped Mount Salem 1-0, while Seba ran out convincing 4-0 winners over Juniors in their respective quarter-finals. In other matches played in the competition to date, Seba defeated Hot & Spicy 3-1, Wadadah blanked Seaview 2-0, Violet Kickers edged Altobar 1-0, Railway Gardens outscored Survivors 4-3, Glendevon beat Belmont 1-0, Mount Salem won against Sting 4-1, Catherine Hall triumphed over Tomorrow’s People 2-0, and Juniors clipped Granville 1-0.
