MONTEGO BAY, St James

Several students of the Holland High School in Trelawny were left in mourning yesterday after one of their classmates was killed in a three-vehicle collision along the Rose Hall main road in St James.

Nine persons were also injured in the accident, the police said.

The grade-10 student was identified as 15-year-old Chinelle Bent of Greenwood, St James.
Police said a Toyota Camry motor car registered 8467 FD was travelling from Falmouth towards Montego Bay, when on reaching Rose Hall in the vicinity of the Palmyra Resorts it attempted to make a U-turn and collided with a truck which was travelling in the opposite direction.

"The truck then got out of control and hit a Townace bus that was travelling towards Montego Bay," the police said. "The bus went into a ditch and the student (Bent) who was a passenger in it was thrown from it," the police added.
Bent was pronounced dead at hospital.

However up to press time the condition of the injured persons could not be ascertained.

As news of the accident circulated a large number of students from Holland High converged at the scene of the accident. Many wept openly.
