MONTEGO BAY, St James -
The State's case against police officer Carey Lyn-Sue, who admittedly made up evidence in order to secure a conviction against murder accused Jason James, was yesterday adjourned at the request of his lawyer, Morrell Beckford.
According to Beckford, who has hinted that Lyn-Sue will plead guilty, his request for time was based on the fact that he had not yet been served with statements.
Consequently, the case will be mentioned on May 1. The case was put off last Wednesday after Lavern Walters, the court clerk, said she had only received the file just before the start of court and had not had the chance to read it properly.
Lyn-Sue was subsequently released on $20,000 bail in his own surety.
The 31-year-old Lyn-Sue, formerly of the Area One Accident Reconstruction and Investigative Unit, made headlines in January when he told Montego Bay Resident Magistrate Carolyn Tie that he had fabricated allegations against murder accused Jason James.
Speaking under oath, Lyn-Sue created legal history by leading evidence against himself of making up evidence in an effort to get a conviction.
James is now serving a 15-year sentence on an unrelated charge.
