Corporal Peter Salkey

MONTEGO BAY, St James

A female health care worker employed to a prominent medical facility here was one of two persons held by the police on Sunday in connection with the recent shooting and injury of Constabulary Communication Network liaison officer Corporal Peter Salkey.

The names of the two were not released.

Police said the woman, said to be the mother of one of the men who was hit when the injured policeman returned the gunfire, had treated the wounds of one of the injured gunmen.

In the meantime, the police said they were closing in on another man who was injured during the gunfight.

Corporal Salkey was yesterday said to be steadily recovering in hospital after being admitted in a critical condition just over a week ago.
