Curtains fall on St Thomas age-group football leagues

MORANT BAY, St Thomas - The curtains came down on the St Thomas FA/St Thomas Credit Union age-group schools tournaments last weeekend at the SDC football playingfield in Springfield in the parish.

In the highly entertaining the Under-15 final, St Thomas Technical defended their title by defeating high-riding Paul Bogle High 3-2.

St Thomas Technical took the lead in the 32nd minute and went 2-0 up in the 34th minute through strikes from Fitzroy Logan, and Romario Livingston made it 3-0, 20 minutes halfway the second half. But despite two goals from Paul Bogle's Alvis Powell in the 64th minute and Gary Armstrong in the 70th, the Marlon Russle-coached team held on for victory.

In the girls' Under-16 championship play-off, Bath dethroned St Thomas Technical by 1-0 courtesy of a Ruth-Ann Henry 36th-minute penalty.

And in the boys Under-13 tournament, Morant Bay Primary stopped high-riding Yallahs Primary 2-0. to be Rafiel Coleman in the 17th minute and Odane Marriott in the 30th minute got the goals for the victors..

Donald Brown, representing the sponsor St Thomas Credit Union, was quick to admit that the competitions were all well-executed and vowed that his coming will remain on board.

Top goalscorer in the Under-15 league was Rodaine Jennings from St Thomas Technical with eight goals, while Rafiel Coleman of Morant Bay took the prize for the Under-13 division with 11 strikes. MVPs of the Under-13 and Under-15 competitions were Odaine Marriot and Fitzroy Coleman from St Thomas Technical, respectively, while Nicole Williams from Bath was so named in the Under-16 girls' category.
