Marcus Whyte of Body Language and Murlene Dudley of Spartan Health triumphed in the Junior Mr Jamaica and Ms Jamaica Body Fitness Championships respectively at Stephanie Hall, Holy Childhood High School, Saturday night.

The 28-year-old, 5ft-10in Whyte eclipsed Douglas Rodgers of Gymkhana Montego Bay and Omar Tobin of Sandwest Fitness Studio.

"I was prepared for this show and very confident," said Whyte, who has been called the 'ab king' for his eight-pack abdominal muscles. He was runner-up Novice Mr Jamaica in 2006 before grabbing the Novice title last year thanks to his trainer Rupert Johnson.

Whyte said he will enter the Mr Jamaica Middleweight at the National Championships on August 30 before trying out for the Central American and Caribbean Bodybuilding Championships in The Bahamas on September 24-28.

Meanwhile the 5ft-8in 29-year-old Dudley beat Carlene Green of Sandwest Fitness Studio and Shernette Falconer of Gymkhana.

Dudley, who also won the award for the Best Conditioned, Best Presentation and Best Legs, decided to train herself this season and "focus more on her legs".

Fourth in 2006 and last year, Dudley said the judges advised her to work on the legs. After training with Orlando Roper in 2006 and Henry Graham last year, Dudley learnt enough to launch out on her own by training herself and it paid dividends.

"The judges had told me that my legs were too big in comparison to my shoulders and I need to trim them, make them more defined. That's what I did. Now I want to win a pro card at the Caribbean (CAC) Championships but need sponsorships for the supplements which are very expensive," she said.

Green won the award for Best Figure.
In other competitions, Frey Watson of Dynamax Fitness won the Novice Mr Jamaica, ahead of Clayton Powell of Mighty Moves and Dwight Chin of Image Fitness Centre.

Kevin Henry of The Sweatshop won the Teenage Mr Jamaica, beating Daniel Harris of Image Fitness Centre and Courtney Francis of Satchell's Gym in Spanish Town.
