The Hilton Hotel in Kingston withdrew its $1 million lawsuit against the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) after both parties agreed to settle the matter out of court.

JFF boss, Captain Horace Burrell, said yesterday that both parties agreed to terms after a meeting on Friday.

The hotel, based in the financial district of New Kingston, had filed a claim suit for $1,006,966.69 against the JFF, but decided against going to court following the intervention of general manager, Frank Rosheuvel, and a consequent meeting between the two organisations.

"We were surprised and disappointed with the high-handed approach of the Hilton initially but now we are satisfied that good sense has prevailed," Burrell said last night.

The debt was reported to have been incurred from a JFF function held at the property on "September 6 and 7, 2006".

Burrell said last night that 50 per cent of the sum has been remitted to the hotel "with a view of paying the rest in 60 days in two parts", based on the terms of payment agreed on between the parties.

Last week, the federation was served court documents by law firm Bishop and Fullerton on behalf of the complaint - Ocean Chimo Limited T/A Hilton Kingston Hotel - intimating a lawsuit due to monies owed by the local governing body.

The Hilton Kingston has, therefore, advised the JFF that it has withdrawn the court case against the JFF "with immediate effect", a press release from the JFF said.
