Jamaicans claim top-three finishes at Modesto Relays

Marvin Anderson and Nickeisha Anderson ran personal bests in the 100 metres at the 66th Modesto Relays in California, USA last weekend, and along with Colleen Scott and Caltha Seymour, finished in the top three in their events.

Marvin, a former St Jago High standout, clocked 10.15 seconds to place second, behind American Ivory Williams, who won in a personal best 10.13 seconds.

Nickeisha, a World Junior Championships 200m bronze medallist, posted 11.33 seconds also for second place in her 100m won by USA's Sanie Roseby, 11.28 seconds.

American Alexis Weatherspoon won the women's 100m A race in 11.24 seconds, ahead of compatriot Muna Lee, 11.29.

In the triple jump, Scott leapt 13.17 metres for third place after Americans Shani Marks, 13.60, and Amanda Thieschafer, 13.25.

Seymour won the hammer with 52.21 metres.

Meanwhile at a meet in Spain, double World Championships silver medallist James Beckford leapt 7.82 metres to finish second in the long jump event won by Cuban Luis Felipe Méliz, 7.85m.

On Friday, Michael Frater and Christopher Williams are scheduled to clash in the 100m at the Qatar Athletics Super Grand Prix in Doha.

At the Jamaica International Invitational last weekend, Frater was second in the 100m in a time of 10.13 while Williams was second in the 200m timing 20.67 seconds.
