Dr Warren Blake replaces Howard Aris
DR Warren Blake is the new president of the Jamaica Administrative Athletic Association (JAAA) after defeating Olympian Grace Jackson in the election to succeed the late former president Howard Aris tonight.
The election at an extraordinary meeting of the association at its Tremaine Road headquarters in St Andrew saw Blake, a consultant orthapaedic surgeon, triumphing 12-3 over Jackson, a former Jamaica sprinter.
Aris died last Thursday night of an apparent heart attack while he campaigned with the Opposition People’s National Party in the eastern parish of Portland.
Like Aris, Dr Blake attended Kingston College. He has acted as medical doctor for several of Jamaica’s athletics teams and is also a doping control officer.
Dr Blake is a Jamaica national representative in shooting.
