A man who the police alleged was wanted for a series of serious crimes committed in Gordon Town, St Andrew, was on Saturday shot and killed by cops in that community.
According to the police, the man identified as Clayton Brown, otherwise called 'Stiffy' or 'Stiffman', of Cottage Hill district in Gordon Town, was shot dead during a shoot-out with officers on patrol in the area.
The police reported that shortly after 10:00 pm on Friday, Brown and a group of men opened fire at them and ran in separate directions as they responded to reports about wanted men in the community.
The fire was returned, the police said, and Brown was later found suffering from gunshot wounds in a gully. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
According to Inspector Altermoth 'Parra' Campbell of the St Andrew North Police Division, Brown was wanted for at least one murder, two cases of shooting, and rape.
In the meantime, investigators in St James are probing the murders of two men in separate incidents in that parish on Saturday.
The dead men were identified as 29-year-old security guard Neil Earl and Rexford Anderson, 39, of Greenwood and Salt Spring roads, respectively, in St James.
According to the police, shortly before 9:00 pm Earl was entering his yard when he was attacked and sprayed with bullets. He died on the spot.
Less than 15 minutes later, police said, Anderson was at home when his neighbours heard explosions and summoned them.
Upon the arrival of the lawmen, Anderson's bullet-riddled body was found sprawled on a bed in his room. Police also reported that a man was shot and killed on Caledonia Crescent in Kingston on Saturday.
The dead man was identified as Sheldon Adolphus Richards of Benbow Street in Kingston.
According to the police, shortly after 11:00 pm, residents heard explosions and summoned the police. On the arrival of the lawmen Richards' body with multiple gunshot wounds was found on the roadway.
