Lyn-Sue. confessed to fabricating evidence against a murder accused

MONTEGO BAY, St James - Detective Corporal Carey Lyn-Sue will today plead guilty in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court to attempting to pervert the course of public justice, according to reliable sources.

The 31-year-old Lyn-Sue, formerly of the Area One Accident Reconstruction and Investigative Unit, made headlines in January when he told Montego Bay Resident Magistrate Carolyn Tie that he had fabricated allegations against murder accused, Jason James.

Speaking under oath, Lyn-Sue created legal history by leading evidence against himself of making up evidence in an effort to secure a conviction.

It was not immediately clear yesterday if Lyn-Sue, who will be charged this morning, will face other charges.
Lyn-Sue's lawyer, Morrell Beckford, who witnessed a question-and-answer session in which his client reportedly "fully co-operated with the police", declined to elaborate on the matter.

The Observer has learnt, however, that he plans, at the appropriate juncture, to make an impassioned plea for as much mercy as possible.

In this he will undoubtedly receive much support from the fact that Lyn-Sue volunteered the confession. On the other hand, Beckford may also have to contend with the possibility that the court may want to "send a message", given the background of allegations of corruption against the justice system.

James is now serving a 15-year sentence on an unrelated charge.
