Four people, who on Friday were arrested and charged with possession of 50 pounds of marijuana in Four Paths, Clarendon, are scheduled to answer to the charges in the May Pen Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

The accused - Alton 'Water Rice' Jackson, 36, of a St Catherine address; brothers, Nickoy 'Dane' Lewis, 25 and Milton 'Asker' Lewis, 31, of Cherry Tree Lane; and Milton's girlfriend, Simone Tobias, 23 - were arrested during a pre-dawn raid by police on Good Friday.

Tobias, police say, was subsequently released on $30,000 bail.

According to Superintendent Radcliffe Lewis, the four were apprehended as they slept in a house in the Cherry Tree Lane community shortly after 6:00 am.

He said that 30 pounds of the weed was compressed.
"They never expected the raid, man. Them think police stop work because of the holiday," a proud Lewis said. "We started raiding that and adjoining communities from about 3:00 am."

Though Four Paths is not considered a divisional hot-spot, Lewis said that the Lime Tree Lane community is one of the areas on the police's watch list.

"The Lime Tree Lane community in particular is one that we will be putting some level of concentration on where these things (drugs) are concerned," said Lewis.
