Teenager facing charges of sexually assaulting toddler

Thursday, March 20, 2008

A teenager is now facing a charge of buggery in the Home Circuit Court for the alleged sexual assault of his 21-month-old nephew.

The 15-year-old schoolboy was remanded into custody when he appeared in court Tuesday and a psychiatric and medical evaluation ordered by Justice Leighton Pusey. The teen is to appear in court again on April 25.

Allegations are that the teen sexually assaulted the infant on November 12 last year after his sister left the child in his care.
The child's mother on her return home found him bloody and unable to sit or stand.

A medical report revealed that the child was sexually assaulted.

The court was told on Tuesday that when cautioned by the police, the teen allegedly said he did not know why he assaulted the child and that "something" came over him.
