SPANISH TOWN, St Catherine - A 58-year-old Portmore woman who allegedly stabbed her admirer to death after a quarrel was offered $150,000 bail with one or two sureties when she appeared in the Spanish Town criminal court on Tuesday.
Marie Pessoa is accused of stabbing 86-year-old Jasper Fung after she refused his demands for sex. Police told the court that on February 8, Fung - who was in love with Pessoa - visited her at home. Allegations are that when his demands for sex were refused, he locked the door, took a knife and stabbed Pessoa all over her body. But she overpowered the senior citizen, took the knife from him and retalliated by stabbing him over his body. He died on the spot.
Police say Pessoa was admitted to hospital with stab wounds and was arrested and charged with murder. She is scheduled to return to court on May 27.
Her bail hinges on the post mortem report which said Fung's death was inconclusive. Further analysis of the internal organs is being conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
