ERIN Fisher, the man police said was wanted for a number of murders and shootings in St Catherine, was yesterday cut down by cops in an alleged shoot-out in the Fiddler's Hall area of Wakefield, located just outside of Linstead.
The police were, however, unable to confirm a report that Fisher was one of the trigger men behind the killing of businessman Roy Lee, who was robbed and shot dead as he pulled up his shutter to open his supermarket in Linstead last December.
Fisher, the police said, was found clutching a Colt .38 revolver with three live rounds. Three spent shells were also found at the scene of the shooting, said the police.
A small fire broke out yesterday at the Fortune 500 company, Affiliated Computer Services (ACS), located in the Montego Freeport, causing minor damage to a section of the building. It did not affect the company's operations.
Deputy fire brigade superintendent, Lloyd Scott, said the fire was caused by a malfunctioning hand dryer in one of the company's rest areas. He said two units from the Freeport Fire Station, which is in close proximity to ACS' offices, responded to the call at 8:45 am.
THE Ministry of Health and Environment's head office in Kingston is expected to reopen it doors today after it was temporarily closed yesterday due to a fire on Saturday night.
"The emergency generator, an electrical cable tray which feeds power to the upper level floors of the building and the generator were completely burnt resulting in loss of power in the building," said the ministry. Loss was estimated at $5 million.
The building also houses the offices of the Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO), and Urban Maintenance Limited (UML) - an arm of the Urban Development Corporation.
