MONTEGO BAY, St James - Constable Raul Khouri, the policeman from the Montego Bay Flying Squad who was recently interdicted for discharging his service revolver at a wake held for a slain colleague, is among three men facing charges of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition following the seizure of three illegal guns and a quantity of ammo during a joint police/military operation Sunday morning.
Constable Khouri, 31, along with Orville Spence, 22, of Hopewell, Hanover; and Clive Atkinson, 34, of Bogue Village in Montego Bay, are booked to appear before the Western Regional Gun Court to answer illegal weapons charges. The police's information arm, the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN), reported that the weapons and ammunition were seized about 2:30 am Sunday during a joint police/military operation in Bogue Village.
The police said a Toyota Camry motor car with the three men aboard was stopped and following a search of the vehicle three guns - a Smith and Wesson .40 pistol, with serial number PAK9173; a .38 revolver, serial number C58273; and a homemade handgun - were found.
Six magazines, 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition and three .38 rounds were also recovered during the search, the police said. All three men were subsequently held.
