Contractor general reports 11 companies to DPP

The contractor general has reported 11 delinquent public bodies to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for failure to submit their 2007 second quarter contract award reports on time.

The reports were required to be submitted to the Office of the Contractor General (OCG) by July 31, according to a press statement yesterday from the OCG.

The delinquent public bodies reported to the DPP are the:

. Anti-Dumping and Subsidies Commission;

. Bureau of Women's Affairs;

. Department of Cooperative and Friendly Societies;

. Electricity Division of the former Ministry of Industry, Technology, Energy and
Commerce (repeat offender);

. The former Ministry of Industry, Technology, Energy and Commerce (repeat offender);

. The former Ministry of Local Government and Environment (repeat offender);

. National Works Agency (NWA) (repeat offender);

. Rural Electrification Programme (repeat offender);

. St Catherine Parish Council (repeat offender);

. Toll Authority of Jamaica (repeat offender); and

. University Council of Jamaica.

"Any person who, without lawful justification or excuse, fails to comply with a lawful requisition of a Contractor General, commits a criminal offence under Section 29 of the 1983 Contractor General Act," the OCG said in a statement Monday.
