Triple murder jolts J'can granddad in England
LUKE WILLIAMS
Monday, July 16, 2007

A 70-year-old Jamaican man has been jolted by the loss of three members of his family in a triple murder in the United Kingdom and is now struggling to cope with his grief.

"I am shocked, I can't believe it," said George Samuels after his daughter Beverly, 35, and her two children, Kesha, 18, and Fred, 13, were found bludgeoned to death at their home in Manchester late Thursday.

"I haven't seen Bev for a few months," added Samuels, a retired stonemason. "They were good kids. Kesha was a very talented singer. It is terrible that this has happened."
Kesha, who had been a top contender on the popular television show Stars In Their Eyes, was expected to rise to stardom.

Police say all three suffered massive head injuries in the attack.

Their blood-soaked bodies were found by a neighbour who had climbed a ladder to get in through an open window after a relative could not get an answer at the front door.

Samuels said he was unaware of any motive anyone would have to murder his daughter and grandchildren.

On Friday night, police appealed for Pierre Williams, the 32-year-old former boyfriend of Beverly Samuels, to report to a police station for questioning in connection with the killings.

Williams handed himself in within hours of the appeal.
The Observer learnt that the murdered woman had not seen Williams for some time until he turned up at her house recently.

"We are not saying Pierre Williams is responsible for this offence," said Superintendent Paul Savill from the Greater Manchester Police. "We need to speak to him to. take our investigation forward."
