A man who allegedly impersonated a police officer and fleeced several cops of thousands of dollars was yesterday being sought by senior detectives from the Criminal Investigations Bureau.
In the meantime, the police have asked members of the public to assist them in finding the man, whom they identified as Snively Pryce, a 21-year-old resident of Cock Street in Port Maria, St Mary.
According to the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN), Pryce allegedly made telephone calls to several members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force posing as a senior female member of the police hierarchy and asking for donations for needy officers. He would then give the officers a bank account number and instruct them to have the money deposited to that account.
The police declined to give the name of the senior officer whom Pryce is alleged to have impersonated. Pryce, who is also known as 'Indiana Lawrence', is known to frequent sections of Port Maria, Falmouth, Trelawny and Ocho Rios in St Ann.
He is said to be five feet tall, of dark complexion and slim build. The police said he is of an effeminate disposition. According to Sergeant Jubert Llewellyn of the CCN, Pryce was convicted on June 5 last year for a similar offence and was given a suspended sentence. However, he is suspected to have restarted the practice shortly afterwards.
