Police yesterday reported that they now have in custody Earl Hall, 35, the man who was wanted by police in connection with the murder of 45-year-old taxi operator Uriel Plummer, whose killing sparked a demonstration by Maxfield Taxi Association members on Maxfield Avenue on April 11.

The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) said Hall, otherwise known as 'Shepherd', was arrested by the police on Friday during a raid by officers from the Flying Squad on the community of Rose Town, Kingston 13.

One man was also fatally shot by the police and two firearms seized during the raid staged jointly by the Flying Squad and the Organised Crime Investigation Division.

Police alleged they were fired at as they approached a residence at a section of the Rose Town community known as Tewari Crescent. The cops returned the fire and an unidentified man was shot and killed, and a .357 Magnum revolver with four rounds of ammunition was taken from him. The unidentified man was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was declared dead.

Some time afterwards, Hall, who was wanted on warrant for the murder of Palmer, was caught by the police and arrested. He was subsequently searched and a .38 revolver with five live rounds taken from him.
