Teen shot dead days after release from custody

Wednesday, April 18, 2007

SCHOOL dropout Junior Lewis, 15, who was last week released from police custody after being held for questioning for several shootings in Payne Avenue, South West St Andrew, was Monday afternoon shot dead in the community.

Lewis, the police said, was riding a bicycle to a grocery shop in the community about 1:30 pm when he was fired at by a gunman. He received several bullets to the head. He was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Following police investigations, shopkeeper Richard Williams, 30, was arrested by the police in connection with the shooting.
Williams, the police said, is already facing a murder charge and currently has a case before the Half-Way-Tree Resident Magistrate's Court for the alleged murder of a woman in the same community.
