Teen girls, man accused of robbing insurance agents to face trial April
Paul Henry
Tuesday, February 13, 2007

THE two teenage girls and a man who allegedly lured two female Life of Jamaica (LOJ) sales agents to an apartment and robbed them are to face trial in the Home Circuit Court on April 18.

The trial date was set when the three - Steve McCalla, Crystal Lewis and Tashana Broomfield, both 18 - appeared in court recently.

McCalla was remanded into custody, while Lewis and Broomfield had their bail extended. The three are facing robbery with aggravation and conspiracy charges.

It is alleged that in March 2006, the three allegedly lured the agents to a Seymour Avenue, Kingston 5 apartment under the guise that McCalla was interested in purchasing life insurance for his daughter whom he alleged was a student of the University of the West Indies.

When the agents arrived at different times of the day, and welcomed to the apartment by the girls, they were allegedly attacked by McCalla, who blindfolded, gagged and bound them, before taking their cellular phones and other documents.

All three were arrested at an apartment on March 23 after allegedly trying to pull a similar con on two real estate agents.
