Two arrested, motorcycle seized
Observer Reporter
Thursday, October 26, 2006

Alert security guards handed over this motorcycle to the police yesterday, after two men, one said to be armed with a gun, were seen lurking around the parking lot at Tropical Plaza, one of the main shopping areas in uptown Kingston. The two men were later arrested by the police.

According to the police, security guards became suspicious of two men who were lurking in the parking lot after noticing that one of the men was carrying a gun.

The police said the security guards fired a warning shot in the air before disarming the gunman. Both men were put to lie face down before the cops arrived and carted them off to the Half-Way-Tree Police Station. The armed man was carrying a loaded 9mm Beretta pistol, the police said.

According to the police, in addition to illegal possession of a firearm, the owner of the motorcycle could also be charged with a hit-and-run accident, as the motorcycle was allegedly involved in a bang-up with a vehicle owned by Marksman security on the night of October 6.
