Teen, boyfriend charged with uncle's murder

WATER WORKS, Westmoreland - A 16-year-old girl and her horticulturist boyfriend - who is also her cousin - are scheduled to appear in the Savanna-la-Mar Resident Magistrate's Court next Tuesday to answer murder charges.

The Westmoreland police on Wednesday charged Stacy-Ann Senior and her 18-year-old cousin Rohan Murray, of Goldsmith, Water Works, with the murder of her 52-year-old uncle, labourer Roy Senior.

A third person, who was still in police custody yesterday, had not been charged up to press time.

All three were taken into custody last Friday in connection with the fatal chopping of the elder Senior, who lived in Goldsmith, Water Works.

According to the police, the teenage girl was evicted from Senior's house last Thursday, following a family dispute. She, however, moved back in.

Police reports say that about 6:00 am last Friday, the teen alerted family members to her uncle's bloody room and a trail of blood leading from the room to the back of the house.

A search was launched and Senior's body was found in a banana field about three chains from his two-bedroom dwelling. The body had multiple stab wounds.

The murder weapon was also found close to the body.
Acting on information, investigators said they later found bloody clothing, allegedly belonging to Murray, in a pit latrine at a nearby house.

Following investigations by the police, the duo and another man were detained.
