Cop among three facing gun charges
Observer Reporter
Friday, March 03, 2006

THREE men, including a police constable assigned to the Mobile Reserve Division, are facing illegal gun charges after officers from the Western Kingston police allegedly seized an illegal firearm while searching a motor car along Spanish Town Road in Kingston yesterday.

A police source said the constable and the two other men were travelling in a grey Honda motor car along Spanish Town Road at about 3:45 pm, when officers signalled the driver to stop.

The source said during a search of the vehicle, a .380 semi-automatic pistol, loaded with four live rounds, was discovered.

"Charges will be laid against them, including the policeman, as he was in the vehicle when the search was made and the weapon discovered," said the Observer's source.

All three were being interrogated last night and could be charged by this morning, the police said.
