Friday, February 03, 2006

MONTEGO BAY, St James - Three men, including one on bail for three counts of murder, were yesterday jointly charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition following the recovery of a 12-gauge shotgun and 12 gauge cartridges found on premises they occupy during a police raid.

The men facing the charges are:

. Omar Tucker, also called Boppa Cat, a 31 year-old labourer of Paradise, Norwood, and who is on bail for three counts of murder;

. Andre Tucker, otherwise called Chris, 29, of Paradise, Norwood; and

. Andre Henry, alias Dee Bop, 26, of Nine Miles, St Ann.

The three men are booked to appear in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court next week.

According to the police, between 8:30 am and 11:00 am yesterday, officers from the Area One Public Safety Unit and Area One Flying Squad, led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Keith "Trinity" Gardner carried out operations at Bond Lane, Paradise Norwood when a 12-gauge homemade shotgun and two live rounds of 12-gauge cartridges were allegedly seized.

The three occupants of the house were taken into custody and charged jointly with illegal possession of firearm and possession of ammunition.

Police said they were also being investigated for other crimes committed in the Norwood and adjoining communities in St James.
