JSIF evaluating bids for 20 projects

Sunday, January 08, 2006

THE Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF) is in the process of evaluating bids for 20 poverty reduction projects to be executed in 10 parishes.

Four of the projects are slated for St Ann - the Steer Town health centre construction, and rehabilitation of the Brittonville All Age School, Steer Town All Age and the White Sand road. The winning bids will go the National Contracts Commission for review before contracts are awarded, said JSIF managing director Scarlette Gillings

In 2005, JSIF approved a total 101 projects, said Gillings, an investment of $735 million.
